Thinking while making or even making without thinking is how I characterise how I crash found images together to make my Mad Hatter series of work.
I have used pages from magazines and books containing fashion, editorial photography, religious iconography, portraits of the aristocracy of 1838, Indian and Islamic art, botanical life, and weird animals.
Not having bought a glossy magazine for over two decades I noticed how much nudity there is in fashion and how many contorted poses the models are encouraged into. Why? The nugget that formed into my Spectres series started here.
