Et tu Gorbachev. The socialist fraternal embrace between Mikhail Gorbachev and Erich Honecker (the General Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and therefore controlled the government of the German Democratic Republic) during the former’s visit to East Germany for the 40th anniversary of the raising of the Berlin Wall (6–7 October 1989).
I have stabilised the video footage around Gorbachev which shows the power relationship between the two men and the latter’s vulnerability.
And played with colour saturation.
On 22 December 1989 West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl walked through the Brandenburg Gate to be greeted by Hans Modrow, the East German Prime Minister. This was the official opening of the Berlin Wall. I’ve played with favouring Kohl (first 3 miages) and favouring Modrow (4th image).
And some manipulation of Kennedy giving the ‘We choose to go to the moon’ speech.
